Before We Talk About IVF
Let Us Talk About you

Questions I Hear Often.

What fertility problems can Dr. Lakshmi Priya help with?

Dr. Lakshmi Priya provides care for a range of fertility concerns, including female and male infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, low ovarian reserve, unexplained infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss and recurrent implantation failure. Treatment is planned based on the individual patient's condition and fertility goals.

Will I need IVF to get pregnant?

Not necessarily. IVF is one of several fertility treatment options. Depending on your age, fertility evaluation and the underlying cause, treatment may include medication, timed treatment, IUI, surgery or IVF. The aim is to choose the approach that is appropriate for your situation rather than starting with IVF automatically.

Does she treat male as well as female infertility?

Yes. Fertility involves both partners, so the evaluation may include factors affecting male as well as female fertility. Understanding both sides can help identify the right treatment approach and avoid unnecessary delays.

When is IUI recommended?

IUI may be considered in selected cases such as some cases of unexplained infertility, ovulation problems or certain male-factor fertility problems. Whether IUI is suitable depends on factors such as age, ovarian reserve, sperm parameters and other findings from the fertility evaluation.

When is IVF or ICSI recommended?

IVF may be recommended when other treatment options are unlikely to be suitable or have not worked, or when factors such as tubal problems, certain forms of male infertility or reduced ovarian reserve make IVF more appropriate. ICSI may be considered in specific situations, particularly when fertilisation problems or male-factor infertility are present.

Can PCOS, endometriosis or fibroids affect fertility?

Yes. These conditions can affect fertility in different ways. PCOS may affect ovulation, while endometriosis or fibroids can sometimes affect the reproductive organs or uterine environment. Treatment depends on the condition, its severity and your fertility goals.

When might I need a hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy may be recommended when there is a concern about the inside of the uterus, such as polyps, submucosal fibroids, adhesions or other abnormalities. It allows the uterine cavity to be examined and, when appropriate, some problems can be treated during the same procedure.

When might laparoscopy help with fertility?

Laparoscopy may be considered when conditions such as endometriosis, pelvic adhesions or other pelvic problems are suspected. It allows the reproductive organs to be examined directly and, when appropriate, treatment can be performed during the procedure. It is not routinely required for every infertility patient.

Can fertility problems be treated without IVF?

Yes. Depending on the cause, some patients may benefit from simpler approaches such as ovulation treatment, IUI or treatment of an underlying gynaecological problem. Minimally invasive procedures such as hysteroscopy or laparoscopy may also be appropriate in selected cases. The right treatment depends on the individual evaluation.

What happens during the first fertility consultation?

The first consultation is about understanding your fertility journey. Dr. Lakshmi Priya will discuss your medical and reproductive history, previous treatments and any concerns you have. Based on this, she can explain which evaluations may be useful, what treatment options are available and what the next step may be.
